Band Shirts
Many of the band shirts I’ve worn and loved over the years. Most of these aren’t part of my wardrobe anymore, but at least there are photos…
Notes
Alvvays — Came bundled with the Alvvays’ Blue Rev vinyl, released in 2022.
Arcade Fire — I bought this t-shirt at my first Arcade Fire show in 2010, on The Suburbs tour. Showing that giant billboard from behind is such a cool design, especially as it makes reading the band name harder.
Bodi Bill — Next Time, Be Home Before Dinner.
Bon Iver — Most likely bought at the 2012 Bon Iver show at Arena. T-shirt designed by Bradley Hale of Now, Now.
Broken Social Scene — Got this during the “20 Years of City Slang” weekend.
Charizma & Peanut Butter Wolf — Their vinyl weighs a ton, their shirt weighs a ton. Heavy fabric, non-breathable print…
Death From Above 1979 — Band shirt with a print of a photo of a guy wearing a band shirt with the logo of a band called Death From Above 1979. Bought at their 2015 Postbahnhof show.
Dendemann — Way too big, way too orange, and way too offensive to some people. Still, always loved this cartoon version of one of Dendemann’s smartest lines:
Vielleicht hab ich ‘n Stock im Arsch und führ’ ‘n Spießerleben,
doch mein Zeige- und dein Mittelfinger würden “Peace” ergeben.
Bought this shirt at my first Dendemann show, back in 2007.
Grizzly Bear — Bought at the 2012 Berlin show at Astra. The band shirt was later featured on the poster of the 2014 film The Skeleton Twins.
Hundreds — Bought at one of their earliest shows.
Hype Machine — While I don’t obsess over finding new tracks anymore, I’m glad that Hype Machine is still alive and kicking.
Kilians — Bought at their 2013 farewell show in Berlin. Quality-wise, probably the worst band shirt I’ve ever owned.
La Dispute — Should have ironed this one, hm? Bought on La Dispute’s 2011-2012 Wildlife tour. The shirt design features a house/home, guess the album the album is pretty emo…
Menomena — Design by member of the band, Danny Seim. Made for the tour promoting their 2010 album, Mines. I bought the shirt at their final Berlin show in 2012.
Radiohead — Bootleg concert shirt (allegedly made from recycled plastic bottles) bought outside the venue after their 2012 concert at Wuhlheide.
Sinnbus — Sinnbus ❤️
The Appleseed Cast — I think I bought this one in 2013, at their Privatclub show. The sleeves of the shirt were so wide, Oma Else had to make them tighter for the shirt to look even remotely okay on me.
The Kooks — Bought at my first Berlin gig in December 2006. We drove to the big city on a school night!
The Postal Service — The “Bow & Arrow” tee was the first of 3 The Postal Service shirts I have owned over the years. The other one pictured I bought during The Postal Service’s Give Up 10th Anniversary Tour. Traveled to Paris just for this show and came back with a shirt that has a side A (2003) and a side B (2013).
The Robocop Kraus — Who do they think they are? The Robocop Kraus!
Those Dancing Days — One of my favorite band shirt designs.
WHY? — Never really loved WHY?’s Mumps, Etc. album, but the concert shirt featuring the whale (Monstro, is it you?) from the album cover was amazing. Especially the fin on the back.
